Frequently asked questions

  • Tax-deductible donations are coming soon. Michigan Yoga Association is currently a registered 501(c)(6) nonprofit, but we hope to have tax-deductible status later this year. For now, donations are not tax deductible, however, payments such as event tickets or purchased sponsorships can generally be written off by businesses as ordinary and necessary business expenses.

  • All donations, event tickets, and sponsorships directly support future events, workshops, and resources for yoga communities across Michigan. As a volunteer-led organization, every dollar goes back into creating accessible, meaningful experiences.

  • Yes, donations can be refunded. Please contact our team within 30 days of your gift, and we’ll process the refund on your behalf. Note that any original transaction fees are non-refundable.

  • Absolutely! We are a small but mighty organization and we are always excited for new yogis to join our board, bring more energy and effort to our events, or collaborate on initiatives. Please contact us if you are interested.

  • Yes, for businesses or professional yoga studios, MYA Karma Sponsorships are a wonderful option coming soon. If you are an individual interested in getting involved, please contact us—we would love to hear from you.

  • While we don’t have an automated way to send an email notification directly to your honoree when a donation is made in their name, we will send a branded confirmation email to you that can easily be forward to anyone that you would like to notify.

    The Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation for Michigan Yoga Association and ensuring clear and timely communication regarding official actions and meetings.

    Key responsibilities

    Records and documentation:

    • Record accurate minutes of Board and membership meetings

    • Maintain official records, including bylaws, policies, resolutions, and minutes

    Meeting administration:

    • Ensure proper notice of meetings in accordance with MYA bylaws

    Correspondance:

    • Manage official correspondence as directed by the Board or President

    • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled board meetings

  • Position purpose

    The IT Officer oversees the technology systems and digital infrastructure of the Michigan Yoga Association to support communication, operations, and data security.

    Key responsibilities

    Technology management:

    • Manage and maintain MYA’s website, email systems, and digital platforms

    • Oversee software tools and online services used by MYA

    Security and continuity:

    • Support reasonable data security, privacy, and continuity of operations

    Strategic marketing:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan aligned with MYA’s goals.

    • Oversee branding initiatives to maintain a strong and consistent organizational identity.

    • Manage digital presence, including website updates and social media engagement.

    Communications:

    • Direct internal and external communications to ensure clarity and alignment with MYA’s mission
